Edwards Syndrome (Trisomy 18)


Patients with trisomy 18 shows a picture of mental retardation, congenital heart defects, low ear position, and flexion of the hand and fingers.In addition patients oftenhave micrognathia , renal anomalies, syndactyly ,and skeletal system malformations . The incidence of this disorder is approximately 1 in 5000 neonates. 85% died at the age between 10 weeks gestation and aterm, while those born typically died at the age of 2 months.
