Etiology
Leprosy is an infectious disease by Mycobacterium leprae that is chronic progressive, first attacked the peripheral nerves, then there is the manifestation of the skin, eyes, upper respiratory tract mucosa, bone, and then to other organs except the central nervous system. Although infectious, but a low degree of infectivity.
Clinical Overview
The lesion begins with fine scaly white patches on the body, not itchy, then enlarged and expanded . If the nerve was exposed, the patient complained of numbness in certain parts, or difficulty moving limbs that continued with joint stiffness. Eyebrow can fall out too.
Differential Diagnosis
Tinea versicolor, Tinea corporis, Vitiligo, Cellulitis, Erysipelas, Psoriasis, Pityriasis rosea, Seborrheic dermatitis.
Prognosis
With the combination of drugs, treatment becomes simpler and shorter, and the prognosis is better. If you already have contractures and chronic ulcers, the prognosis is poor.
