DHF caused by dengue virus, which belongs to the genus Flavivirus, family Flaviviridae. Transmission of dengue virus infection occurs via the mosquito vector Aedes genus, mainly Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus. Increase in cases related to environmental sanitation with the availability of places for mosquito breeding females, the vessel that contains the clear water (bath tub, tin cans, water reservoirs and other woods). In the laboratory dengue virus can replicate in mammals, like rodents, rabbits, dogs, bats, and primates.
There is no specific treatment for dengue, the main principle is supportive therapy. Maintenance of circulating fluid volume is the most important actions in the handling of cases of DHF.
