Diabetes Mellitus



DM is characterized by increased glucose levels chronically.
In general, DM is classified two types, namely diabetes mellitus type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
DM type 1 is insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. The disease is rare. Type 1 diabetes is caused due to an autoimmune process in some people who have a genetic predisposition. Autoimmune attack against pancreatic β cells resulting in absolute insulin deficiency. The average age of manifestation is around the age of 13. Penatalaksaan performed with insulin therapy.
Type 2 diabetes is diabetes mellitus that do not depend on insulin. The disease is more common than type 1 diabetes, and has grown substantially due to lifestyle factors that are less healthy. Obesity is one cause of high glucose levels. Hypertension, dyslipidemia, insulin resistance, and obesity is a "metabolic syndrome" that trigger type 2 diabetes mellitus. Changes in diet, alcohol drop, and drop cigarettes needs to be done as a further action.
