Obstetrics is part of medical science devoted to learning all about the concerned with the birth of a baby. Thus, that became the object of this science is pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and newborns.
The word "obstetrics" or "obstetrix" in Latin seems to have anything to do with the word "obstare", which means standing at his side in this regard in addition to women who are giving birth. However, this explanation is not accepted by all parties. Another opinion states that the original word was "adstetrix" which means helping someone who is giving birth.
