Erysipelas

Etiology
Erysipelas is an acute inflammation in the dermis and upper subcutaneous tissue caused by Streptococcus betahemolyticus or Streptococcus pyrogenes with major symptoms of skin redness.
Clinical Overview
Usually preceded by prodromal symptoms, high heat loss, headache, chills, vomiting, joint pain, and malaise. Erysipelas usually occurs in the face and lower leg. Skin lesions begin with small wounds on the skin then becomes a local erythema bright red, firm borders, edema, and feels tender. Was hot on the palpability, in the middle at the entrance of germs are sometimes found in vesicles or bull.
Differential Diagnosis
Cellulitis, Contact dermatitis, Urticaria.
Prognosis
If not treated will spread to the surrounding mainly proximally. If the frequent recurrence in the same place can occur elephantiasis.
