Irritants Contact Dermatitis

Etiology
Irritants contact dermatitis is a dermatitis which arise after contact with substances that are irritants such as strong acids and alkalis, organic solvents, detergents, lubricating oils, and sawdust through chemical and physical processes. Materials irritants damage the layer of keratin, keratin denaturation, get rid of the fat layer of keratin, and change the water holding capacity of the skin. This situation will damage the cells of the epidermis. Some strong irritants will quickly cause the effect, while the weaker irritants cause cumulative effects.
Clinical Overview
Usually abnormalities arise some time after first contact with materials that are irritants. Patients will complain of a burning sensation, pain, itching, and dry skin. The entire surface of the body can be affected. Erythema initially visible, and then into vesicles, the bull until erosion. If the contact continues, the skin can become necrotic.
Differential Diagnosis
Anthrax, Erysipelas.
Prognosis
If the material causes of irritant dermatitis can not be removed completely, the prognosis is poor.
